My first Mosaic Project
The second mosaic was more challenging.
This one I designed for my brother and his Scottish wife.
I wanted to combine elements that said something about
each of them and both of them.
My brother has always struck me as a mathematical
game-playing sort of guy. The chessboard fit with his
personality and made the table more functional for when
their grandchildren or friends come over.

His Scottish wife brought elements from Scotland such
as purple thisles, a strong persistent side coupled with a
sweet fun-loving pleasnt side.
She favored mediterranean yellow and orange which I
tried to incorporate in the final work. The purple turn=out
to be the most difficult to find in the resake shops I
frequented.
The chess board was the main element that didn't change
given how much they love to entertain and play games.
In the final days, after the fragments had been knocked
off accidently far too many times, and I wasn't pleased
with the corners, my huband suggested a suite of cards
since they play polker so frequently. The idea was
brilliant and so with the help of my children, the pieces
were placed and the table completed.

It took all of about 2 years to complete.

Which Side Am I
On ?
The thistle image kept me
occupied the most and I
used various templates to
try and place it as a bold
element , but alas, I found
it barely visible  among the
green leaves.
